Submission and access
Manuscript submission and peer review are free of charge. Access to published articles is immediate, open and free, without a subscription.
Article processing charge (APC)
After acceptance and before publication, an APC of USD 100 applies to international authors or BRL 500 to Brazilian authors. Payment does not influence peer review or the editorial decision.
Optional formatting service
If a manuscript does not follow the official template, the editor will offer authors the opportunity to resubmit it in the required format without a formatting charge. Authors who prefer to engage the publisher for this work may opt for a service costing USD 25 for international authors or BRL 125 for Brazilian authors. This service is optional and is not a condition of editorial acceptance.
Payment
APC payment instructions are emailed to the author after acceptance for publication. Payment is recommended within seven days of receipt of the instructions and the agreement, where applicable. The same recommended period applies to the expressly ordered optional formatting service, following receipt of its payment instructions.
Institutional communication between the Publisher and authors is conducted by email. For updates on the editorial workflow, the journal uses the primary contact author’s email address registered during manuscript submission. Authors must provide a valid address and keep it up to date in the system. The Publisher is not responsible for communication failures resulting from an invalid, non-existent or outdated address supplied by the author.
Payment confirmation does not imply immediate publication. Publication depends on completion of production and the other applicable editorial conditions.
Duplicate payments
Duplicate payments will be verified and refunded in accordance with applicable law. This adjustment does not constitute withdrawal or cancel the agreed publication.
Right of withdrawal
Where an electronic agreement has been signed, the client may withdraw from the publication service agreement within seven days of completion of both parties’ signatures, without prejudice to any other starting point or right provided by applicable law.
Where there is no signed electronic agreement, the Publisher grants the client seven days from confirmation of payment for the publication service to withdraw from the agreement, without prejudice to any other starting point or right provided by applicable law.
Exercising this right entails cancellation of the agreement and reimbursement of the amounts paid, as provided by law. If the request is received before publication, the Publisher will stop performing the service and will not publish the article.
Cancellation or refund requests must be submitted through the journal’s contact channel, identifying the submission and payment, where made. The Publisher will acknowledge receipt and provide a reasoned response.
Completed publication service
Publication of the approved final version of the article and its availability in open access constitute completion of the principal performance of the contracted editorial service.
Once this principal performance has been duly completed, a subsequent mere change of mind, a change in the authors’ preferences regarding the approved content, or a request to withdraw the publication does not, by itself, entitle them to a refund of the APC. The same applies to retraction resulting from error or misconduct attributable to the authors, provided that no failure attributable to the Publisher provides grounds for reimbursement.
Rights provided by law in cases of duplicate payment, defective service, failure to fulfil the offer or any other statutory ground for reimbursement remain protected. Completion of the principal performance does not discharge legal responsibilities or subsequent commitments expressly undertaken. Access to and continuity of the archive are governed by the preservation policy, without a guarantee of perpetual hosting or indefinite operation of the Publisher.
Third-party services
The journal does not recommend engaging intermediaries and is not responsible for third-party services offered to authors by providers unaffiliated with the journals published by Telos. External services contracted by authors are their responsibility and do not replace official charges.
Translation, language editing or formatting services do not confer authorship or authorize the provider to submit the manuscript on behalf of the authors. Authorship and contributions (CRediT)
