Resumo
O ser mais complexo, o homem, é definido por uma compreensão de sua dignidade. Nada é mais importante para a humanidade do que garantir que a dignidade seja respeitada. É a dignidade que torna o homem "verdadeiramente humano", permitindo que ele se manifeste com total liberdade e expresse, sem impedimentos, todas as capacidades e habilidades com as quais foi dotado ou que desenvolveu. Este artigo explora várias tendências na definição de dignidade e personalidade humanas, ao mesmo tempo em que examina as preocupações das sociedades greco-romanas antigas e contemporâneas com relação à implementação de garantias para a dignidade humana na esfera social, no sistema jurídico e nas relações interpessoais. Embora a exploração seja limitada, seu objetivo é manter o conceito de respeito à dignidade humana em primeiro plano. Esse foco é essencial, pois o mundo só pode ser visto como um lugar melhor quando a dignidade humana é respeitada.
